OFFER UP DEAL SETUP BUYER ROBS, SHOOTS SELLER-Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a shooting Sunday afternoon after a resell deal turned out to be an armed robbery. Robbery Unit detectives are investigating.
On October 21, the female victim and her fiancé used an app to find a potential buyer for a used iPhone. They made arrangements to meet up with the stranger on October 22 near 1348 Avon Lane in North Lauderdale.
At the meeting, the buyer told them he needed to go to an ATM. The couple drove him to the Chevron Gas Station located at 7100 W. McNab Road in North Lauderdale. The stores security cameras captured the robber as he walked into the convenience store and pretended to use the ATM.
Once they had driven back to the meet up spot, the couple realized the man was acting oddly. The buyer pulled out a gun and demanded both of their phones. The couple quickly drove off but not before the robber fired a shot at the female victim.
The bullet pierced the right side of the back of the female victim’s head. Her fiance rushed her to University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The robber is described as a male, approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall, with a medium build, a dark complexion and short dark hair. He wore a blue Puma tracksuit and white athletic shoes.
