GAS STATION ARMED ROBBERY
GAS STATION ARMED ROBBERY Oakland Park-An unidentified man, in a Bob Marley shirt, tried and failed to persuade his victim that everything was going to be alright while he robbed an Oakland Park convenience store at gunpoint. Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit detectives are investigating.
The afternoon of August 28, surveillance cameras at the Chevron Gas station, located at 1401 E. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park, captured the thief as he walked the perimeter of the store before entering. As soon as he entered, he pulled out a black gun and demanded the cash from the register.
The armed robber tried to reassure the clerk by saying, “Open the register, I’m not going to shoot you.” The clerk complied and placed the cash into the robber’s backpack.
The suspect then told the clerk to put his hands on his head and lay face down on the floor. The thief leaned over the counter to ensure the clerk had acquiesced and then fled in a silver four-door sedan.
The unidentified armed robber is described as having a medium build, a black or dark-colored goatee and a dark complexion. He wore a khaki-colored shirt with an image of Bob Marley on the front, black pants, black shoes, a khaki baseball cap and a black and grey book bag.
