THIEVES USE STOLEN CARD TO CATCH UBER BUY PHONE
THIEVES USE STOLEN CARD TO CATCH UBER BUY PHONE-A Weston resident’s car is burglarized the evening before Memorial Day. The next day, the victim wakes to find a text alert about credit card fraud. Then he sees that his white Audi has been ransacked; gone are his dashboard camera and American Express card.
Today, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are releasing surveillance video of the two males seen on May 31 using the stolen credit card at Walmart Supercenter at 5851 N.W. 177th St. in Hialeah.
The video shows the suspects exit a car at the Walmart. One of the thieves lingers to talk to the Uber driver while the other male waits in the entrance of the store.
They both then head into the 24-hour store where they buy a prepaid cellphone. While the crooks are in the store, the Uber driver, who was hailed with the stolen card, parks and then enters Walmart.
The unsuspecting driver and the suspects are seen leaving the store together.
One suspect was wearing a black T-shirt and black Adidas pants. The other male had on a long-sleeve red shirt and black Nike shorts over black pants.
