Steals Phone On The Way To Court-Finding and keeping something that doesn’t belong to you is a crime of opportunity that can earn you a theft charge. Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are hoping to solve one such courthouse caper but need the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
As a man went through the metal detectors with a female companion around 3 p.m. May 1 at the new courthouse, his belt set off the machine. He went back around to pass through the machine a second time, following a lady who placed her Samsung 6 Edge Plus in a basket and sent it and her purse through the scanner. After being cleared, she collected her purse and walked away without her pricey phone. As the suspect waited for his belt, the phone exited the scanner. He hesitated for a brief second but took both items and walked away.
The suspect is said to be in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall and with long dreadlocks held in a ponytail. He was wearing a multi-colored polo and beige slacks.
