TENANTS GET SCARY WELCOME FROM ROBBERS
Date: March 20, 2017 PIO Number: 17-3-25
A Pompano Beach family unwittingly opened their home not to their new neighbors but to robbers, and now Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives need help identifying the invaders.
The son had just returned from a trip to the corner store, when around 10:45 p.m. Feb. 1, he heard a knock on the door. He looked through the peephole, didn’t see anyone and proceeded to open the door. That’s when three males stormed in for the most unwelcomed of visits. The family of three was held at gunpoint by one suspect while the other two robbers combed the house looking for a safe, drugs and guns despite the residents’ protests that none were there.
Eventually, the suspects took off with the father’s cash, Xbox 360 and cellphone. The victims believe the thieves were looking for a previous tenant of 100 block of S.E. 10th Ave.
One suspect sported a black hooded jacket, tan pants and a black and white bandana over his face. The second suspect had on a brown and gray plaid shirt, tan pants and a black knit cap, while the third suspect wore a black long-sleeve shirt, gray jeans with black patches and a red shirt around his face.
