Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are releasing surveillance video in a fatal hit-and-run crash in the hopes that someone can identify the fleeing suspects.

Around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 22, a BMW SUV was traveling east in the 3500 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes at a high rate of speed when it hit pedestrian Raul G. Martinez Jr. The BMW then crossed the center median and struck a Dodge Avenger that was traveling west on West Oakland Park Boulevard. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue took the driver of the Dodge, Rosa Sapp, to an area hospital where she was treated and released.

Following the collision, the BMW’s occupants fled the scene. In the newly released video, the two male suspects are seen running through a nearby shopping plaza. One had his hair styled in long, thick dreads and the other male appeared to have a short haircut.

Excessive speed is considered to have contributed to the collisions. Anyone with information is asked to contact THI Det. Anthony Morales at 954-321-4840. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
